Bumper-to-bumper success
at the USPTO
Automotive leaders surfaced by outcome—fair, transparent, and ready to defend.

Automotive portfolios aren’t one-size-fits-all. Powertrain, ADAS, EV systems, and infotainment each face different examiner mixes and claim patterns. Ranking by allowance rate within the designated automotive CPCs isolates performance inside the tech you actually prosecute. It levels the field across firm size and docket mix, and it reflects the outcome clients care about most—did the work convert to granted rights in this industry. CPC granularity keeps comparisons apples-to-apples, so a drivetrain specialist isn’t measured against a UI-heavy docket, and vice versa.
The result: fair, comparable standings you can defend in a partner meeting or an RFP.

How we define the automotive industry
Auto portfolios span powertrain, chassis, ADAS, EV systems, and vehicle electronics. To keep comparisons fair, we anchor this view to CPC subclasses that capture core automotive systems and components. We emphasize B60, B62, Y02T, G01M, and H01R—the classes most indicative of vehicle design, operation, testing, and electrification.
We're not including peripheral CPCs that touch autos indirectly, or telecom and general computing CPCs that appear only when the claimed invention’s center of gravity is automotive. For multi-industry filings, we classify by the primary CPC and standardized rules documented in the methodology.
